Personnel Services is responsible for personnel administration and its development in the University. The tasks of Personnel Services include both employer matters and matters handled in cooperation with employees. The purpose of Personnel Services is to support the well-being of University personnel and to guide and give advice on contracts related to service relationships, as well as overall adherence to and application of the Civil Servants Act. Other tasks include the payment of wages, recruitment of personnel, maintenance of personnel files, and matters related to occupational health and safety services. In addition, Personnel Services helps the University administration, faculties, and departments in taking care of personnel affairs and organizes activities for development and further education connected with career and well-being.
The University of Vaasa develops its working community in a way that increases both the University’s competitiveness as an employer and the professional competencies and job satisfaction of its personnel. The University promotes the development of an equal work and research environment. In order to make the assessment and improvement of the University’s personnel policies possible, qualitative accounts or other such information on the management of professional life and development are included in the financial statements of the University. The University of Vaasa introduced the New Salary System in the autumn of 2006.
