The main features of the publication process
The author of the text sends the manuscript and request for publication to the academic editor, who forwards the information to the publication committee. Statements from outside evaluators are requested when necessary (one or two evaluators).
Publication permission is granted by the publication committee. After obtaining the publication permission, the author and the editor fill out and sign a publication contract.
In case of dissertations, publication permission is not needed as it is granted as part of the dissertation process. Publication contract is required for dissertations as well.
The author should discuss layout details with the publication secretary even before the manuscript is completed. The publication templates and instructions may be obtained from the publication secretary or from the University website (‘Publication at the University of Vaasa’ page).
The author submits the complete manuscript, written in the layout template, to the publication secretary, who will make covers for the publication and add bibliographical data. The publication secretary will forward the manuscript for printing, oversee the printing process, and check the print quality of the final publication.
The Communications and PR Unit of the University will upload publication data on the online publication database for selling purposes. The publication secretary takes care of subscriptions and invoicing.
