Exchange Studies in the Premiere League

“The University of Vaasa plays in the Bundesliga,” says Bettina Feurle, a business student from Germany.

The reason for making comparisons with the University of Vaasa and German league football is simple: In Bettina’s opinion, the University of Vaasa is in a league of its own.

“The university and the campus are just so modern, the study facilities are better than anywhere I’ve seen.”

And this is praise indeed coming from a person who is not studying abroad for the first time. Before embarking on her exchange in Finland, Bettina had spent one semester in the UK.

She left her home city of Koblenz in January with the typical preconceptions of Finland: snow, high technology, aurora borealis, reindeers, Father Christmas. And some more snow. She found some of that, and still some more.

Bettina arrived to Vaasa in the coldest time of the winter to find a warm welcome from the international tutors and the University of Vaasa in general.

“Right from the start I was really impressed by how much education is valued in this country. You could see it in everything, in the orientation days, international tutoring and the academic life in general. Everything is really well organised.”
