The University of Vaasa has art works from different fields of visual arts all over the campus area. Most of them belong to the state’s collection, the largest art collection in Finland.

The works in the new buildings of the University campus have been acquired through competitions arranged by the University’s art commission, but some of the works are donations or have been in the campus area already before the University. Most of the art works were made in the 80s and the 90s.

The following artists have created works for the campus area: Leonhard Lapin, Eeva-Liisa Isomaa, Nina Roos, Kaarina Heikinheimo, Kyllikki Haavisto, Minna Kattelus, Pekka Kauhanen, two works by Reijo Hukkanen, sculptors Anne Alho and Lauri Leppänen, architects Käpy and Simo Paavilainen, and the Rectors’ portraits by Veikko Vionoja, Per-Olof Hjortell, Fritz Jakobsson, and Eeva Rihu.
